Hi I was just wanting to know which of the services in services if I disable them will stop me from being able to use msn messenger as this has happened and I have had to start most of the services and this causing my computer to go extremely slow.

Thanks:)

Off course most services need to be started, they are part of the operating system.

Actually, Windows xp can run with minimal services. Why don't you post the list of services so we can see what you've got? Use export list from services.msc.

EDIT: who edited my message :p

As MSN messenger doesn't run as a service you are looking in the wrong place.

Please explain what you are trying to do and we'll be able to help.

Unfortunately MS Messenger has definitely been openly exploited by spammers. You can disable this service via entering the command line > Start > Run > enter "msconfig" & click OK... Click on the services tab & in the Services list UNCHECK "Messenger". Click Apply & OK & restart your PC. When the PC reboots, a window may pop up stating your startup files have been modified... if so, just place a check in the "dont show me this msg....." and you'll be back to normal (whatever that means) without MS Messenger...
