Fuel is leaking in engine area. Hard to start and runs rough most of the time. Idles high and sometimes surges when stopped at stop light. Any ideas? Thanks.

. Check the under hood fuel filter.

. Check fuel lines--use flare wrenches, to ensure they're tight.

Would the fuel leakage cause the engine to run rough and surge?

Don't know if frame mounted fuel filter has ever been changed and how do I purge the filters?

Yes.

On some PSDs, you open the purge valve beneath the under hood fuel filter.
