Not sure if this will help, but there's a song from the 70's called Boogie Nights by Heatwave where they say "got to keep on dancing, keep on dancing..." but they don't say check it out. The band you refer to is called TAVARES, and they had quite a few hits in the 70's. The only other song I recall with "check it out" in it that was kind of jazzy was by John Mellencamp and it was from the 80's. Good luck. =^^=
