I have Windows XP Pro. I have downloaded every codec available! Still no joy. Does not recognize this format. I want to make movies, not just watch!

You need to convert the movie files with a video converter. Some are free, some are buy. Either way it will take hours and hours to convert a movie so you can burn the files. Google video converters and try out some to see which you like best. I use a buy software program from AVS4YOU that I stumbled onto 3 years ago. I have tried other video converters (free trial versions) and they don't compare to this converter. There is a free trial period with the AVS video converter to let you see what it can do. They update this program regularly once you buy it. You can get a year's subscription or buy a lifetime subscription. Either way it works for me. I bought the lifetime sub after I used it for a full year. You also get free access to all the other AVS downloads and software once you buy the program.

I have a vast video DVD library (well over 400+) of movies I've downloaded, converted and burned to DVD's over the past 3 years. So I guess you could say I've tried them all and still come back to the one program that I originally got in the first place. No other video converter is faster either by the way. I also use Graboid.com to download movies and TV shows. Best selection and at $15 a month I can download and convert to my heart's content.
