If a grandparent has been caring for a child and the parental bond is actually with the grandparent, how long do you have to wait to petition the court for custody? There is no contact with the custodial parent for 3-6 months at a time. No phone calls, no visits for six months and then one brief visit and no contact for another 4 months by phone or in person.

You might want to ask to have this post moved to family law section. That way you can get the proper legal advice you need.
