Can anyone identify the plant in this picture? My neighbor gave me a few at the beginning of the summer, but he can't seem to remember the name of it. I don't have a better picture, so hopefully this is good enough. The stem looks something like bamboo, but it's red. It's also an annual plant. Each burr gets three seeds in it.
Thanks
Daisy

Never saw it before, sorry:(
What climate does it grow in? Is it always skinny like that and red?

Yes, it's always skinny and red. The fattest one I've seen is about an inch in diameter. I live in PA, so the temps can get anywhere from the
80's to the low 100's in temp during the summer, other than that, I have no idea what climate they come from. The seeds are bi-colored and kind of look like a bean. They are mostly speckled brown and an off white color. Some are a little whiter than others. I have no more information than that. I got a few more picture. Hopefully they're a little better than the previous ones. My dad thought he said they were called chester nut, but we couldn't find anything on that. I thought they said something about hyacinth, but that wouldn't make sense because it's red not purple.

That's an annual:confused: and it grows that big, that fast:eek:
The leaves look very familiar, but I have never had the other growth or the red.

I think I found it:D
Caster Bean plant (Ricinus Communis)
All parts are considered poisonous and it says it's a fast growing annual.
Sorry, I didn't know how to connect the link, so just Google it and you will see a picture:)

Thanks so much. That's definitely it. It gets lots of seeds, and if we can get a lot of them to grow, we figured we would hand some out, but we wanted to make sure we had info on them first. This helps so much.
Thanks again.

Before handing these out you may need to read this and give info to your friends:
