I have a Whirlpool Gold with Senseon model GE/GX 9868J dryer. It is about 6-8 years old. When I push the start button, I hear a click, but it won't start. It has the smooth buttons, not knobs. I really don't want to spend a fortune having someone come out to look at it.

Appleguy,

Unplug the unit and take the back off. Down towards the bottom, near the exhaust connection, you will find a small, white thin plastic part with 2 blue wires connected to it. Remove the wires, put them together, wrap with electrical tape, and then plug the dryer in and see if it runs then. Report back with the result of this test.

I used this from another person asking the same question. It worked for him but it didn't work for me. I still just get a click when I hit start. Do I need to strip the wires or just hook the metal ends together?

Any other suggestions?

If you are hearing a click it is coming from your controller board motor relay. The heater relay will not kick on until the motor starts to turn due to the centrifrugal swich. As the previous person stated try putting the two blue wires from the thermal fuse together after removing power from the breaker and see if it works.. also the door switch would also prevent the unit from coming on as well. The best way to test it is to see if the light comes on and off when opening the door of the unit.
