I need help in finding what denomination church I should find. I have looked into a lot but I can't find one for some reason.

My biggest issue is the trinity. I don't believe in it. God is God. Jesus is his Son. Jesus never said he was God, the bible says that Jesus stands at the right hand of God. So I'm not sure how he could stand at the right hand of himself. I'm not sure why if he is god, why would he not pray to himself. He never said 'me' he said 'my father'.
So I am very firm in my belief that Jesus is NOT God, he is Gods SON and our Savior.

I also need a church that is NOT based on calvinism (believing that fate is predestined) I believe we are all given God given free will, and we decide if we follow Him or not. And its not all predestined. We have a CHOICE.


I also do not believe that God holds us all accountable for the 'original sin' I believe that SINLESS children go to God if they die. I do not believe that we are Born sinners.


Those are the MAIN differences with my own personall beliefs.

Is there a church out there for me?

You may want to look at the Baptist church, while they do have the trinity, many don't push it hard ( there are many independent baptists, so you will have to visit a lot of them.

Also remember that not every member of every denomination believes every thing the church does.
How many catholics in the US use birth control
How many catholics have had or help with abortions or birth control
How many of various christian churches, accept homosexual behavior as not only not a sin,but have pastors as such

So often it is not really the denomination but feeling at home and liking the people of a local church.

I have preached more in Methodist churches over the last 5 years than in any other denomination and I am not Methodist. ( I am invited as a guest pastor)

So it is not the name on the door and if you want to try and find one that believes every little thing the same, you never find it

Thank you, and your right. I have liked a few churches that weren't exactly like my beliefs. Mormons especially made me feel VERY VERY loved and welcomed and part of a family, and even accepted some things about me that wernt part of their actual creed (I am a smoker, I have been divorced for NOT very good christian reasons) but their beliefs were just much much much too different for my tastes. Its OK to make some exceptions, but they were just, too 'science fiction' type for me. Hehe.

I DO like baptist churches, not southern though, and I like lutherin churches. I like the people of presbyterian, but like with the mormon church, just WAY to different. I've also thought about jehova wittnesses but I really don't like that they don't celebrate Christs birth, or even our own births. I don't think God has a problem with it at all, especially since we celebrate Christs birth life and sacrifice for christmas. You know?

Thank you. I am trying one tomorrow, its called christs community church I think. I think its one of those standard, basic, no denomination churches. And I went to their christmas services one year a few years ago and they were all VERY nice.

I'm sorry wondergirl, I don't like the idea of a church that accepts all religions as true, even a little bit. They aren't all true, I want a church that wants to spread the word of jesus, and not just accept them all.

Does anyone know what faith/church/belief system that actor Kirk Cameron is part of? I LOVE his show The Way of the Master and teachings. But I don't know everything abuot it so if I knew what 'type' of christian faith he follows, I might be able to find out.

If you mean ELCA, I would agree. I have been active in a couple of those in the past and really enjoyed them.

In Orthodox Christianity, Holly Trinity represents ONE GOD, but in tree different ways of appearance. As a FATHER, a SON and as a HOLY GHOST. If there is a Serbian or Russian orthodox church somewhere nearby, you can go there and have a conversation with a priest and he would explain it all to you. Maybe an Orthodox Christianity is the right church for you.

If you don't believe in the Trinity, then it seems to me all the suggestions above are off the mark except Wondergirl's.

Godsgirl it sounds to me like you may beneifit from a non denominational church. Where you can worship God, jesus, pray, have fellowship and support and love and family, WITHOUT the minute details of every single one of everyone's individual beliefs.

I also agree iwht Fr_chuck. Baptist are very open, and as long as none of your beliefs are seriously NON christian, that should be fine.

Really with those beliefs you really sound Mormon.

I'm under the same issue as you. For me though, It's not trying to find the right type of church, but just the right church. It may take a bit of trying out, but if you feel you can go into a church and praise God without getting irked at things you don't believe let you worship God in his awesoomness. Because getting irked is one way to steer your attention else where (trust me... I went to a Prysbeterian Youth Group... and apparently they don't believe in the holy spirit bestoying on people spiritual gifts? Something like that... don't quote me on that however... )

For your disbelief of the trinity, here's a little history tidbit for you. It wasn't until Emporer Constantine (I think that's the right one... :P) made the Nicene Creed back in... a long time ago... that the term trinity was thought up. Back then, humans couldn't wrap their mind around God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit all being the same thing yet not the same thing... so they put it into terms their puny minds could understand.. . Kind of like how we imagine God as something big, yet he's so big we can't imagine him.. .


As for Fate being predestined. This is how I view it. God gives us free choice, BUT, he knows exactly what will happen in the future. It's not like we make a bad choice, and in a bad situation and God's up in heaven wringing his hands and going 'oh dear oh dear. That wasn't suppose to happen. What do I do now?" So I agree with you, Fate isn't predestined... God has plans for us that'll eventually come about, but we still have free choice and he has plans for us based on what he already knows we'll choose... Make sense? Sometimes it doesn't to me. :P

Honestly, I use to have the same problem.

You should try the Unitarian Church, or you should read the Qur'an. They are both Monotheist, accept Jesus and reject the Pauline Doctrine. Highly recommend that you read the Qur'an without any outside misconceptions.

I reread what you said, and you are already a Muslim without the Qur'an. I know that may be a surprise, but the definition of a Muslim is someone who follow God alone, and agrees with everything you say. (Except that God cannot have a son)

To have a son means that you have sexual parts. Sexual parts mean that you have desires. Since God has no desires, he can't have need, and doesn't "need""want""desire" a son. He has Righteous Prophets that follow his commands.

For those that may question me on here about all of this... take my word for it. I know what I'm talking about.

I almost forgot about this post. I'm glad someone replied again.

I just looked at mormon. I don't think I am. I don't think some people get to be gods after they die. And I don't think that you get in to heaven by doing good deeds like they do. Or that different levels of heaven. But I do like that church. They seem to be really nice.

I tried a church, called a community church. I think it's a misionary church. And they are all really nice and said that I don't have to believe in the trinity to go to their church. I started going to a study group for a book by John baker, called lifes healing choices. Its a lot of fun.
