Ok, I have not the best credit. I just recently moved out of a privately owned house. My mother is visiting me from france. She decided to help me out and become a cosigner. She did and the first place we went to too she was denied because she lived in france, but she had all the other necessary requirements. I live in Ky, and need some answeres on what action we can take, for any pros on the law out their, thanks.

Hello A:

This isn't a legal question. Banks can loan to whomever they want, assuming they don't discriminate against protected classes of people. Being a bad credit risk isn't one of those classes.

The purpose of a co-signer is to insure payment if the primary defaults. I can see where someone would not want to accept a co-signer from another country as that would inhibit collection effort.
