My 3 year old boy has been through a lot lately due to his father being in and out of prison then he come out and was a brilliant dad for months then out of the blue his dad started takeing drugs and drinking and his put all this before his sons, my youngest isn't effected but my 3 yr old is he won't listen to anyone and he just screams, shouts and hits all day, I find it a struggle going to the shops as he will not sit in a pram but he will not walk he runs of or lays there on the path kicking and screaming, I love my son so much I want to help him be the happy boy he was before his dad came along, his dad is now out of his life but when he goes back to school he will probably see his dad outside the school gates. I don't know how to get him to listen to me anymore

Whoa whoa whoa... never mind the father but what have YOU been doing? I do believe how a child acts is a strong reflection on the parenting. Do you give in a lot? Sure seems like it to me. I'm assuming he's a healthy boy with no ahh health/mental problems here.
Well it is a bit harder without poppa around and a little harder when he's not a full-time parent as you are.
So well here is what you need to do... lay down the law! He's old enough to realize bad behavior = a privilege or toy taken away!
What is your style of parenting? Do you spank? Do you send him to time-out? Do you just ignore his behavior?
Parenting is tough... but it's a learning process!
