My husband has been divorced for over four years. However, he neglected to have his ex-wife removed as a joint account holder from his primary credit card. We have submitted paperwork to have her removed from the account, but the request was declined. The credit card company indicated that my husband is using a large percentage of his credit and the ex-wife (remaining on the account) serves as another person they can seek payment from, if he fails to maintain the account. So, is there another way to have her removed from the account?

Cancel the card and get a new one.

If credit card is paid off, then he can remove her and put you on.
