Went to buy some wine glasses today. Found 2 identical boxes of same product in same shop at same time but at 2 different prices. Is this legal? Difference was about 25%

Nope, but I bet one was simply mis-labelled.
Was this from the bar code or just a sticky tag ?

No both had same sticky tag with bar codeand when I queried it they said they had bought same goods at different prices and therfore adjusted sale price.

Same product = Same price.
Their purchase price has nothing to do with the bargain.

Correct. If the product is totally identical, they cannot sell them at different prices. Moreover, in many areas, they must charge the lower price.

HOMSENSE is actually TK Max. they maintain that as they have a standard mark up that when they buy the same goods at different prices the retail price reflects this.maintain it is legal but offerred me a store credit voucher.
U learn something every day!

Where is this store located? Ask them to site the law that allows this. I know in NY State, if the same item has two price tags, the lower price applies.

Ooooooooo, so they are covered by the Sale of Goods Act which PROHIBITS this type of activity!!
Very naughty.
