Why would my cat cry and whine over a half full/empty food dish? Does he think the food is almost gone? He is not ill and has regular vet. Check-ups. The vet. Actually said that he is just a brat! Ignore him if he's perfectly healthy and not injured. It can get on your last nerve though. Any suggestions? His mother cat is also with him so, I wonder if he's refusing to grow up. He's almost 1yr. Old.

Maybe he does not like this brand of food. Has he always eaten the same food ? Also, I know my outside cats will not eat out of their dish if there is any type of debris in it (ie: beetles of grass or any thing of this nature) has the dish been cleaned lately...

They both get the same food and their dishes are always cleaned. The mother cat only eats what she wants and either walks off or lies down. The boy cat will then go back and forth from her dish to his until there are almost empty and then start complaining. If I fill the dish back up, he'll nibble a few pieces and then leave it. He's never been completely out of food. I think it's a way of getting me out there so he can crawl all over me. He jumps up and puts his paws around my leg and rubs his face.

It sounds like he's just very much a people cat who wants love and attention. This, combined with his habit of climbing on the roof and crying to be helped down and cuddled, tells me that he just wants all the love he can get.

Have you thought about letting him inside sometimes?

I'd sit down, and he was in my lap or at my shoulder on the back of the chair leaning again my head. I'd spread out the morning newspaper on the table, and he would soon be lying on top of it. I'd be at my computer, and he'd be marching back and forth across my keyboard. The whole time, he'd be yowling and meowing his opinion.

Try ignoring him. He's learning that you give in to everything. A cat's food should be portioned anyway.

I miss him more than words can say. I've lost 3 others over the years. You remember each one like children. I actually had a problem naming this latest one after one I lost. He looks and behaves exactly the same way. He's once removed from the other. Brothers? I'm not sure how that works in the pet world.
