Hi.
I have a 90 honda accord that will not start. It does crank. It seems to have no spark. The cel does not come on at all and the ecu/ecm does nothing. The previous owner replaced the relay. Thank you for any suggestions.

The CEL bulb may have burned out. Perform tests, in Honda Sections 1, 2, and 3, below:

Hi.
This is Maxslady with the 90 Honda accord.
Thank you for your response. I'm sorry, but I got confused with the tests. Does test question 1a mean the CEL doesn't come on at all or comes on and doesn't go off? Also, on part 3... about the CEL not coming on... The LOPL does come on, so do I still do what it says? And I don't understand "repair open" in the instructions. I'm sorry I'm so dense about these things. I really appreciate you guys.

The CEL should come on for 2 seconds and then go out, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II). If it stays on, then you have a problem.

Since your LOPL comes on, you can skip Honda Section 3.

Did you examine the CEL bulb?

. Test all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter:

. Clean the main ECM ground, located on the thermostat housing.

. Perform the K-Test on the ECM.

My bet is that the ECM is toast, which is common on these older Hondas. Replace the ECM, if confirmed by the K-Test:
