The best way is to show that you can provide a safe stable place for the child to be raised in.

Unless your ex has done some fairly horrible things , while the child is in her direct care, don't expect better than joint custody which still gives you all the chances you will need to remain in your child s life.

It is good that you want to step up and be man enough to fight for custody.
Be ready to be man enough to be a single parent if you win.

I was a single parent with my youngest son. I won custody when he was 7.
Until you are a single parent you have no idea how difficult it is.

How so many women can be single parents to 2 or 3 kids, with one an infant, has showed me what love and determination can do.
These women gave me the inspiration to get through some tough times.
