Hey everyone, I just bought some RAM and I'm pretty sure it will work on my computer. If I have bought the wrong one will it damage anything on my computer after I install it and run the computer? Also how do I know if I installed the right one.

Unlikely to cause damage. But it might not work. You should check to make sure it's the correct RAM. Kingston.com has a RAM finder that will tell you what you need for your make and model.

Follow up - I just received my memory sticks in the mail, I instaled in made sure it was okay and everything was proper, I turned my computer on and all it did was beep so obviously it wasn't the right one but, I compared my current memory stick with the new one and they matched, both say 133MHz and CL3 on it is there something I was doing wrong or could I do something more to make them work?

Did you replace the RAM or add to it? Speed is also one of the factors.

Another thing to remember, if adding to the RAM, if the modules are of differing sizes, larger modules should be first in the order (in back). Even if adding modules of the same size, if differing brands, try swapiing the order. On my computer, though all the same size, I had some minor performance difficulties until I swapped the order of the differing brands.

If you can find the Manuel for your motherboard sometimes it makes deference in what slots the ram goes in, also some motherboards only accept certain density ram, My motherboard only accepts low density.

All right I bought this RAM to add to my current RAM, my computer has 3 slots and I tried installing the new ram into the second with the old in the first. Then I tried installing the RAM in the first slot by itself but still nothing. Both memory sticks are the same make, also the new RAM is 128mb and the old current one is 256m, the 128mb is bigger. Hope that helps to find an answer. My computer is a Pentium 4 1.33Ghz, both Ram sticks say 133Mhz on them.

Hope that helps to find an answer to my problem
