Hello-

I began taking birth control in June (around the 10th) to prevent my period from happening the day of my wedding – July 4th. I didn't get my period July 4th but I must have missed a day somewhere between July 5th and 8th because my period began July 9th. I tried to take pills once I saw my period starting but it just continued through the 14th. According to the calendar I keep to track my period, it should have started August 7th but hasn't so I took a pregnancy test twice- both times came back negative however, I read online that if you drink a lot of fluids the test could have false results ( I drink about a gallon of water a day because I can easily feel dehydrated). I did call my OBGYN and she told me not to worry about it. Wait 90 days and if still no period come in. I was on birth control less than a month. Is that really long enough to prevent my periods even after a full one came on?

THANKS!

Best time to try a test is first thing in the morning when your urine is most concentrated.
Your periods could be off due to having recently starting the birth control pill, the stress of recently getting married, or for no apparent reason at all.
Some women may skip a period here and there, this is why many doctors will not be concerned with just one missed period and suggest waiting to see if you miss two in a row.
Your period may still show up a little late this month so give it another week or so and see what happens. Still no period, try another test with first morning urine. If still negative, wait and see what happens next month and test or see your doctor if need be.
