Who enforces city ordinances? I live in a small town... and am wondering
If the city or the Police officers can enforce city ordinances? Can a city official
Bring up a city ordinance problem to the city secretary to have enforced?

What type of city ordinance,

Dog leash law,

Grass too high

Improper sign on a building

Police will enforce some, such as not being in a park after 10 pm perhaps,

Code enforcement would do things like signs and grass

Animal control / or police may do dog leash laws.

Building inspectors may do buidling codes

Yes... examples are dog leash law, grass to high, trees not trimmed... can a city official bring it up to the city secretary or police officer and have them notify resident of ordinance?

I can call the city and report them, ( I have called code enforcement on several empty houses on my street for grass too high)

But yes, the city cousel person is often a person who goes to different departments to get action.

But the city water meter reader can report a loose dog or too high grass to the city sec or manager who will then call in the proper department

Thanks... so then the city secretary and police officers do have the authority to enforce ordinances that are in place...

It sounds like you are having a problem. Please tell us EVERYTHING about your problem, because the way you're framing your question, you're getting limited answers. The Padre is SMART, but he can only give what he gets.

It would be MY view, that not every city is organized the same way. SOME city officials might be able to enforce SOME violations, but you should tell us exactly WHAT violation they and/or WHO think you did.

Yes, because OP is not being very clear on what she/he means by "enforce". OP wrote about someone "bring[ing] it up to the city secretary or police officer and have them notify resident of ordinance?". Sure, if asking the "city secretary" (whoever that is) to write a letter is "enforcement", anyone can ask for that. If going to court is what is meant (and that's probably a more meaningful definition), normally it would be the city attorney or similar title.
