My Scout 40 gallon electric water heater needs replaced.
I need to turn off the cold water valve so I can turn the main water line back on.
Where is it located?
It is just a temporary measure till tomorrow morning.
Thank you

A lot of water heaters are installed with only a valve on the house(hot side).
Check the lines coming into heater. Trace line from heater back toward water incoming feed.

You might have to turn it off at the meter, if all else fails

I don't buy 1 valve on the outlet side otherwise draining your water heater would be nearly impossible.
One valve on the inlet side, yes.

My wrong. Valves is on in let.
Kiss is right, valve is on inlet.
On my tank inlet is on right and out let on right. Assumed right was outlet. U know what happens when u assume.
Sorry

Shut off is usually located above water heater on cold water line. If there is no shut off at water heater, track back on the cold water line to find main shut off for house. The main will be on the cold line and it will have same handle as an outdoor spigot. In cold regions the main shut-off is located in the basement or area of house that stays warm. It in warmer regions the shut off could be on the side of the house or located in a plastic box at ground level in front or back yard >> this box will be visible since it also contains the water meter > a T-shaped water key or channel locks is necessary to shut off water inside the box
