like when you add a random stranger
he or she asks who are you and you say you found them on a fan page they get pissed off
I mean it's a social networking site
its called Facebook

It is a social networking site, but a lot of people use it to keep in touch with friends and family, not to meet new people. And I certainly don't want strangers knowing my personal information.
I myself don't add people I don't know, however I usually just hit the 'ignore' button not get angry about it.
If they are persistent in trying to add me I just send a short (but polite) message explaining that I do not add 'randoms'

Yes, myself, I have 100's of "friends" my wife about 10 I think, and she only wants to be friends with people she know.
Not everyone wants a lot of friends or contacts with people they don't know, that is not what they are there for. Some come merely to play some of the games, some just to keep up with a band and so on.

I'm one of the ones who would get pissed off. That is because I feel that you have no right to do anything about me unless I give you permission. You need to stop and think about the fact that everyone isn't you, and everyone doesn't want the same things you do. I think that's a lack of respect for other people possibly feeling differently about something than you do.
On the other hand, I'm not on Facebook, and if I was, I would make all my info private, and what would piss me off the most is if Facebook made it possible for people who don't know me to add me without my permission. I don't know how the settings work on there, but I should be allowed to set it so someone like you can't add me. I hear that Facebook changes these privacy settings all the time.
