I have a 2000 Mazda Protégé that after driving it for about 10 minutes staedy will start hesitating and when I stop at stop lights it boggs down and will cut off if I don't ride the clutch and gas. I have had it to 3 different mechanics and have had a mass airflow sensor and new air hose put on. Nothing helps, but the Check engine light finally went off after disconnecting the battery and has stayed off for about 3 weeks. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

1. Make sure the electrical components are in good shape; e.g. spark plugs, wires, coils. Ensure the spark plugs are the exact make and number that came in the car. Replace platinum plugs at half the recommended mileage. I feel the problem might involve plugs.
2. Attach a scan tool to the data link connector and see if any codes are being thrown.
3. Replace the fuel filter.

Had a problem with my 2003 mazda. I had a diagnostic and was told my oxygen sensor wasnte working. So I bought a new oxygen sensor in the front from the mazda dealer. Still worked like crap! I was fustracted. Found a website http://www.engine-light-help.com/oxygen-sensor-codes.html this helped give me answers on posible problems. It ended up that a pipe that goes from the breather to the motor was cracked, fixed it, and it works great now!!
