I would like my son a UK resident to visit me here in the US as I am in my 70's. He spent 18 months in prison 18 years ago. Would the US authorities allow him into the US?

Under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act the conviction is "Spent" under UK Law. Tell your son to put no criminal convictions on visa form and he should be OK.

Would the US authorities allow him into the US?Hello m:

The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 is the specific piece of legislation affecting ex-offenders' employment opportunities. It has nothing to do with the granting of a visa.

In my view, the US WON'T let him in. If he LIES about it, they might arrest him.

He must disclose ALL criminal records and needs to provide details submit together with DS-160. Since this happened 18 years ago, he would be OK but if he lies and the consul finds out later, he will be ban for life.
