I have a Gibson K6 condensing (?) furnace. The inducer fan won't shut off, no matter what I do and even with the thermostat is set to off. As long as the furnace has power, the inducer runs. I have ordered a replacement board, but it will take a week to get, and I will be away from home for two weeks. Is it necessary for the inducer fan to run occasionally or all of the time when the furnace is in cooling mode? I am thinking about disconnecting a lead to the fan to shut it off so it doesn't burn up.

Thanks. I pulled the plug on the inducer fan until I installed a new furnace control board, which solved the problem. A steady yellow light on the board indicated the system thought there was a flame in the burner, so the inducer fan stayed on. I did not put a new flame sensor, but the yellow light is now off, so the problem was in the board.
