Arrived at my father's to prepare his home for his return after a long illness. Found no water; power is on in the house. Water comes from well. Have reset breakers as it was learned there had been power outages in the area during his illness. City girl, here-- back at the farm. It's the weekend, so would rather not call a plumber to drive this long distance. Father can't return home without water. Thoughts, Suggestions, please?

Either the pump is in the well or above ground/visible. If it's above ground, it could well need priming. This site shows how it's done. Look about halfway down.

Thanks so much for your speedy reply. Was finally able to remove & replace the whole house filter -- totally gross, but still no water. It appears the pump is down the well (little above ground box with cap and pipe down the side). Doesn't look like it's been opened in ages. Think I've turned off all the electrical switches, but Dad didn't label the breaker box. Shall I call a plumber, electrician, or a well person?

I'd call a well person.

Nearest certified well person is 35 miles away.. . Can be out the first of the week.. . And won't charge for travel time or the consultation. Will not be able to arrange for Dad to come home until a solution is found. Thanks so much for your comments. Will let you know more.. . Until then, I'll have to shower with a friend! :-)

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for this problem -- and your perfect solution. Forgive me for taking the gift of running water so lightly.. . Keep me mindful and not wasteful. I await your perfect resolution to this problem. Bless the folks here as they help us work through these problems. In Jesus' name.. .

I will agree with that, that God will turn this into a blessing.
