I know that I will probably have to go down to the court house to speak to someone in person about this.
But I am wondering if I am acctually married or not. I'm starting to have some doubts if we were every married in the first place. Because when I filed for divorce and he signed them non contested, we got notice back saying our divorce request was not applicable and dismissed. And I am concerned because the pastor that married us was supposed to be the one to file the marriage license to the court, and he gave us the certificate part and said he would mail the paper to the court the next day.

Did we file wrong? Or were we never married. It's a huge question lol.

My question is, is there any REAL, FREE, NON SCAM site online that I can search to find out if I was ever married in the first place.

Or if I will just have to wait until I have time off work and school to get down there to the court house.

Ok this is really freaking me out now.
Some new information, I tried searching the public records with my married name as well as my maiden name, and NOTHING came back. Aren't marriages part of public records?

Hi, jenniepepsi!

Have you tried asking the pastor who performed the ceremony as to whether he filed any documents properly? Also, what public records did you try searching, please?

Thanks!

Hey clough

This website for public records, maricopa county is where I live and where we were married.

Maricopa County, Arizona (http://www.maricopa.gov/)

And also the maricopa county recorder
Maricopa County Recorder Elections Department (http://recorder.maricopa.gov/recdocdata/)

All the marriage status sites wanted me to pay them for the info so I didn't do those.

The pastor that married us isn't at that church anymore and I have no idea where to find him :(

Did you try here?

Copies / Marriage Licenses

You may obtain a certified copy of a marriage license at the Customer Service Center, 601 W. Jackson, Phoenix; the Southeast office, 222 E. Javelina, Mesa; the Northeast Facility, 18380 N. 40th St. Suite 120, Phoenix; the Northwest Facility, 14264 W. Tierra Buena Lane, Surprise. The office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

You also may write to the Correspondence Section, Clerk of the Superior Court, 201 W. Jefferson, Phoenix, AZ 85003.

Your request must include:

The full legal name of the male and full legal name of the female prior to the marriage, and the year the marriage took place.
It is helpful if you can provide us with the license number shown at the bottom of your copy of the license, or if you know the year of the marriage.
If by mail, a check or money order payable to the Clerk of the Court for $26.50, along with an enclosed business-sized, self-addressed stamped envelope, (or a check for $7.00 for shipping and handling instead of a business-sized, self-addressed stamped envelope).

Requests by mail take approximately 14 business days from the time we receive your request.
For further assistance, you may call (602) 506-3360.

Thanks cal :)

Yeah I'm going to go down to the downtown office (the one on jefferson) next week if I don't hear anything back on the phone from them. I left a message this morning.

I'm going to go try that directory. Thanks hon.

Well thanks for scaring me more cal! (im kidding hon just teasing LOL)

That website has nothing on me, my married name or maiden name. It has my 'husbands' previous marriage with his ex wife but nothing with me, or anything. Grrr.

Well... I suppose it would be a GOOD thing. Seeing how things have worked out over the last few years... and I'm christian, but I know God would certianly forgive me living with and sleeping with him for 3 years, being that I had every reason to believe I WAS married to him LOL.
Oh well. I hope all this gets settled when I go down there.

By the way. The church may also have a copy of the marriage license since you were married under their roof. At least you would have something to compare to.
