Hello, I am adding a floor sink to an addition on a pizza place. Does it have to be vented.

If you are installing a floor sink, or a "mop sink" then yes, you will need to have a PTRAP and a vent installed for the sink.

Most mop sinks use a 3" or 4" drain pipe/trap. You will need an 1.5" vent if using a 3" drain and a 2" vent if using a 4" drain.

The vent should connect within 4-5 feet of the trap. The vent can connect into other vents at a minimum of 42" off the finish floor or you can go out the roof with a 2" vent.

Mark's bang on! If a fixture has a trap it must be vented. The only exception to this , in my code, is a floor drain. Good luck, Tom

Thanks, its in a bar area.can it go into the grease trap,or can I put the waste in the sewer.

Definitely NOT into the grease trap. Make a direct connection into the sewer drain line by using a WYE FITTING.

Is your sink and disposal unit connect to a grease trap? My code mandates that all commercial restaurant sinks be run through a grease trap. Mop or slop sinks connect to the sewer main. Good luck, Tom

In addition to the above advices...

You are not telling us your location...

In my area, ALL commercial floor sinks have to have 2" vent with dedicated 2" clean out. No 1 1/2" vent allowed.

If you have 3" trap - you will need to install 3" clean out. You can reduce to 2" after the Clean out and bring this vent through the roof.

If your bar has no dishwasher - or you don't plan on washing plates there - you can connect past grease trap. Otherwise, this drain has to run through grease trap.

The best would be if you call your Commercial Plumbing Inspector and ask him the same question. He has the final word over this.
