We have a 95 Ford Ranger, my husband cleaned the terminals to the battery and reconnected them the right way... the negative terminal connector melted... and when he replaced it, then it still wouldn't work... no lights, no starter, and when he tried to jump it, the cable melted... what is going on??

Massive short somewhere.
