So last Friday I was with my friend and also her young niece and my baby. She said that she was going to pay for the stuff in the cart.. which was ALOT and for me to get the kids in the car to save time. Well the car was out front the store and I had her niece buckled in and was just putting my daughters car seat into the car when she came out and the security officer asked us to come inside so I said okay and brought the kids inside where she read us our rights and said we were under arrest for shop lifting. I am 20 and she is 22. We were both charged with theft under 5000.00. She said it was almost 500 worth of merchandise. I'm wondering what could possibly happen and what I should do to prepare for the court date which is a month away.

Hello s:

You should prepare to plead not guilty.

So I found out that my friend is trying to put it on me though... what happens if I plead not guilty and they still say I'm guilty.. what happens then? Could I get time? A fine? Probation?

They have to PROVE you're guilty. Saying it ISN'T proof.

Well that's what I meant if they prove I'm guilty cause I did put stuff in the cart. We were shopping. She had the money I was going to use to pay for my stuff with her but she didn't pay up. And she was being unreasonable with the security guard and snotty with the police officer. Will her actions come back on me?
