have a murry push mower model 22516x92b but it runs and surges. Cleaned carb out still dose it. While the air cleaner is off. I unbolted the starter housing and pulled that off while running and then it was fine. I can't see where the govener parts is haning up on anything so I put the housing back on and it surges. Took it off again then it leavels off? Any help there? Thanks..

Hi,
Cannot say for sure, but it is an airvane governor system. Is there dirt in the cooling fins of the cylinder head or on top of the flywheel screen. Either of these will affect air flow with the blower housing on. Also be aware that with the blower housing in place, the engine should try to run slightly faster and consume slightly more fuel.
I would probably try replacing the diaphragm between the tank and carb(a common service item on this model) to see if that improves the situation.
Peace,
Clarke

I did replace the gasket and dia. Also.. just seems like its not making enough air to move the airvain?

Hi,
Seems like the reverse to me since removing the shroud reduces the air assuming the there is a clean intake area for air and an open path for it to leave.
