Hi,I am 3 months pregnant now,I went for check up but they don't allow me to have an early ultrasound, instead they only check my urine, height, weight and took a blood... I want to know if blood test can also check if the pregnancy is normal or something is wrong... thanks

Why are you worried? Do you have congenital anomalies in your background?

Depending on where you live, and your health history, most insurance will only cover one, maybe two, ultrasounds.

Did they tell you when you might have one? In some places it is the norm to only have one about 20 weeks. In other areas you might have one early on, usually for dating purposes, and than another later in the pregnancy. As J_9 mentioned, insurance and where you live can play a role in what is done in your area.

Some things can be determined through blood work. What often happens is that a "marker" may be picked up in the blood work and this can alert them to check further through ultrasound. Having a marker occur, however, does not always mean there is a true concern, only that further checking should be done.
