Hi Can you please help me with this?
Find an equation of a parabola given focus (1,2) and point on the parabola (-3,-7)! Thank you so much!!

The equation is in this form:

(x-h)^2 = -4p(y-k)

where the focus is (h, k)

Use the coordinates of the focus, and the points you were given to find the value of p.

That done, you can simplify the rest.

That is such a basic question find it out yourself

It might be for you, but not for the asker

I have never studied about focus and directrix. Had I not read the other questions about it and the answers that the members post, I wouldn't have been able to help the asker on that question.
