I have decided not to continue with the Depo shot (I'm not sure of the proper name).
Today was my last day on which I was allowed to get the injection without waiting for my next period.
My questions are:
1. When should my period begin?
2. Will my cycle have changed from how it was before?
3. How long should it be before the side affects wear off?

Thank you for the help!

Some more information:

I got my last shot the second day of my period on May 18th

Emop, FYI most women either don't get a period on depo, or they get extended periods.

1) It's hard to say as every woman is different.

2) Again, there is really no way to tell.

3) The side effects usually wear off in 12 - 18 months.

Now, considering that you just had a miscarriage while ON DepoProvera, why in the world would you want to stop?

I didn't get my period on depo

1. okay
2.okay
3. thank you

I want to try some other options with birth control. Also, my boyfriend moved away so there really is no need for birth control. And just in case, I bought condoms

Also, I only received one injection. The injection I got last was my first time using depo. Which is why I got the shot on the second day of my period. My gynocologist said that I had to get it on the first or second day of my period

The shot is given every 12 weeks. Has nothing to do with period after the first injection because some women bleed continuously for the first few injections.

My gynocologist said that the first injection is given on the first or second day of my period to make sure that something about the lining is cleared by the time it thickens and nothing is trapped.

Is she wrong? Because I had to wait an extra month to get my first injection because she refused to do it unless it was the first few days of my period

She was correct with the first injection.

Why did you decide to quit?

I didn't know any of the side effects, I recently looked them up. I don't like being on something when the doctor didn't tell me how it could effect me. Ever since the shot, I've had the worst acne (which I've never had a problem with before), been always nauseas, had dizzy spells, tired, weight gain, and so on.

I also have one other question:
Does how long I was using depo affect how long the side effects last?
