My cat had kittens and tried to kill them when they were only 2 hours old. We took the remaining three right away. We fed them milk (Cows milk because its all we had till the next day, but I recommend kitty formula) every 2 hours, and stimulated there belly with a warm cloth to make them go to the washroom. Keep them very warm and do not over handle them! If you handle them too much they may get stressed! Even through the night you MUST get up every two hours to feed (Our vet told us this). When you think they are ready try and give them some canned cat food and see how they do, if they eat it give them canned food as well as a little milk. Eventually you will be able to just feed them canned cat food, and then mix in some kibble. If you have an questions just ask and I'll try to answer them the best I can based on my experience!

--I guess I shouldn't have answered this because the original thread is from 2004 WOOPS.

Moved to it's own thread.

All the advice given by emily is good. If the mommy cat will take care of the baby, just not feed it, then you can bottle feed the baby and give it back to mommy to clean and take care of. When you see the other babies eating, just take the one mommy won't feed and feed it, then give it back.

There's a good chance that there is something wrong with the baby she won't feed. You can step in and see if you can help out.. but don't be to surprised if the kitten she won't feed is dead some morning. It's a natrual survival tactic. Cats won't feed babies that the can sense is something wrong with them. Does she continue to push it away? Or is she just not feeding? Is it her first litter? She could be neglecting it due to an overload on caring for the other kittens. That kitten may just be the weakest one and therefore isn't getting the proper attention from mom. Either way, you can try and care for it.. but there is usually a reason the mama won't take care of a baby

DO NOT feed cows milk to a any feline they are lactose. Breast milk or a milk replacer is the best. I would be feeding the kitten every 2 hours or depending on its age
