I am running THHN 12 g wire from gfi outllet to pool pump. I plan on running it through conduit. How deep do I have to burry it. Also, I am grounding pool and pump with 6 g soild bare wire to 8 foot grounding rod. How many places do I have to ground the pool. I have heard at three places. I am from Cny tks

If you use sch 40 pvc it needs to be 18" deep. I am not sure by code you can come off a GFCI outlet. I'm pretty sure you need a 20amp GFCI breaker in your panel. #6 will work for the bonding, and I think you only need to bond the motor to the pool and the pool to any ladder, slides, or diving board.

Local codes vary greatly depending what community you live in. It is always best to check with the department that issues the permits or you can make some very expensive mistakes. There are also serious safety concerns at hand. It is sometimes better for the homeowner to do all the grunt work such as trenching and laying conduit, and have a local licensed electrician make all the final hookups. That way if anything is done incorrectly the electrician has to bring it up to code at his expense. Just my two cents for what it is worth.

Wire MUST be THWN or listed for wet locations. USUALLY THNN is dual marked THNN/THWN.

Pools are not 'grounded' anywhere except through the equipment grounding conductor which supplies the pool pump motor.

One NEVER installs a ground rod anywhere with any pool installation.

Call a professional before you hurt yourself or someone else.
