Hi there everyone,

I'm just wondering at what stage should you actually get a doctor to investigate things further - my partner and I have been TCC for over 12 months now. I have had an ultrasound that shows no issues with my ovaries, and although I am a bit overweight I am quite healthy and am also on a healthy eating plan to continue to lose weight. I know it can take awhile... but I'm just wondering how long... I'm not getting any younger!

Most couples will become pregnant in that first year, but it does take some a bit longer, even when there are no concerns. Usually after a year of actively trying, doctors will start to suggest some initial testing for both partners.

Thanks DoulaLC, we might have to start looking into that. What kind of tests do they do initially?
Thanks!

They will check various hormone levels for you and determine whether you are ovulating. If all is fine there, other testing will be decided. A sperm analysis will be the first step for your partner. Would worth asking your doctor about it, especially if you feel age is creeping up on you. Good luck!

At 6 months I would consult with your OB-Gyn. There are test that can be performed to see if either you or your partner have issues. After a year I would start working with specialists.
