My brother bought my home for me during my divorce--no mortgage--now the divorce
Is final and I am going to pay him back. How do we change the name on the title/deed.I live in Texas.

The same way you did when he bought. Usually a quit claim deed is executed and registered.

Will we need an attny?

You shouldn't need an atty, the county clerk can give you the forms, but it would be better to have a title company handle it.

Yes you got an answer, a quick claim deed, that is a procedure and document used for simple transfer.

If you don't know how to do that, then go to the title company or title attorney that did the original transfer to your brother.

I will note that if this was done to hide property from the court, even if the divorce is final and this is proved, they can reopen the property division on grounds of fraud.

jana clements (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/members/jana%2Bclements.html) disagrees: no info on procedure for change of name

According to you your brother bought the home. Therefore you have, fairly recently, gone through the process. So you should be aware of the process. I DID give the procedure, to file a quit claim deed. So for you to give me a negative comment was innacurate and unfair.

I agree, qickclaim is the way to go but I would also set up a land trust. In some states its called land contract for sale of real estate. So that your brother is protected, take out insurance to pay him in case of your death and make a will to same
