I don't believe the IRS will releaase that information to you. Presumably if you also claimed your son as a dependent in 2006, the IRS has investigated and should resolve the issue, almost always in favor of the custodial parent (unless there is a court decree stating otherwise). Has the IRS contacted you about this?
