I have received a summons for debt, however I am the director and the summons should be addressed to the business not me personally, how do I defend the summons?

Is it credit card debt and the credit cards are in your own name ? If so, they are correct in addressing the summons to you.

You don't "defend" a summons, a summons is simply a notice that a suit has been filed. It may include a notice of a hearing.

If the suit was filed against your personally, you respond to the summons stating that the suit involves debt owed by a corporation and, as a director, in the corporation you have limited liability and should not be sued personally.

Not sure that will fly, since I know nothing of the corporate setup, but it is worth a try.
