The gist of the situation.
I have had a child in my home now for 11 monthes. The mother gave him to me because he was about to be taken away be Cps for her not being able to care for him. I have heard she is living with a married man, and still not working. The mother and father do not see or call about him. I don't know where the father is, the mother lives somewhere in the area but refuses to tell me where. They do not send support, diapers or clothes for the child. I want to know being I am of no relation to the child, would I be able to get custody of him? In my eyes his parents have abandond him. I just want to know if I file and pay for a lawyer, what my odds are?

Great if you may prove all above.
Good luck!

Your taking this child in is laudatory, but if you have no legal right to this child how have you been getting him medical care? What about school registration etc.

I would get an attorney to protect yourself in this. You may be illegally harboring this child. What would probably be the best is go to CPS and tell them the situation and that you want to foster the child with an eye towards adoption. But a local Family Law attorney will be able to advise you better.
