I am sorry andrea for you're the loss of your puppies, but I don't know how you could expect anyone here to tell you why they died. Not knowing the particulars of birth, or the dam, how she reacted to them after birth. In order to receive answers you could have a vet do a postmortem on one of them to maybe determine why this happened. How old were they when they died, just born, a few days, or what ?

Do you mean 11:30 am?

Where are the animals kept-inside or outside? What was the temperature where they are kept? Does anyone else have access to the area? Is there anything that curious pups could get into that could be toxic?

Tick is correct that only a vet can tell you why they died. For the health of the remaining pups and mother, please have them and the dead puppies examined as soon as possible.

Or, and I hate to say this but dogs and cats giving birth sort of weed out the weak from the strong. Case in point that shazzy responded to was the fact that the mom sniffed, licked the newborn and then severed the umbilical cord a second time, the pup passed away. Animal kingdom have a way of dealing with their own guys, sad but true, I know that for a fact from running a farm.

I am not saying these pups were that young, but one never knows. We will have to wait until OP gets back so we can hear what happened in more detail.
