1) Can I buy my own debt, (credit card or payday loans), and report it as paid in full
To the major credit reporting agencies (example: Experian),

2) and if so who would I buy my debt from?

What sort of debt are you talking about? If you owe money, and pay it off with a loan or credit card, then you've paid that debt off, but still have to pay off the credit card or loan you used to pay it. So I'm not really sure what the benefit would be? Also keep in mind, credit cards and loans are going to have interest. Does the debt you're wanting to buy have interest?

Are you asking if you can purchase your debt through a third party for pennies on the dollar? That would certainly be a novel idea. I would assume, if you could find someone to do the purchase for you, it might work.

If you approach the owner of the debt yourself, I doubt if they will sell to you.

Yes. Interesting idea.

I think the problem is that CC companies don't sell their accounts one-by-one. They sell them in bulk.

The Cap One credit card debt has been sold to a (debt buyer) I just believe anything is negotiable (even with banks) if you reach the right person, thanks..
PS: I did not see a reply button, first time here, hope I replied correctly, if not I apologize..

I do know you can not buy your own home loans in a "short sale" situation, but yes if they will sell them, but most likely if they can get that money from you to "buy it" they would just try to get that money as a payment.

You did it right.

Buying your debt and negotiating a partial payoff in return for forgiveness of the balance is really (more or less) the same thing.

The only difference is that buying the debt would normally be an arms-length transaction between the cc company and someone who doesn't know you personally. For this reason, they would pay a substantial discount based upon the likelihood that collection of the debt may very well be impossible (for whatever reason).

If, on the other hand, you buy the debt you have a much better idea how likely it is that the debt can be collected. So, if they were to sell the debt to you, knowing it's you, they would charge considerably more; for good reason.
