I live in New York and own a car that is registered in New York. My son lives in Arizona and owns a car that is registered in Arizona. He recently paid off a car loan for which I was co-signer. We have car insurance policies with the same insurer. Our insurer says that if we are listed on each other's car title, we qualify for a multi-user discount. How do we go about adding each other's name to our car titles? Does this require contacting the Motor Vehicle Department in New York and Arizona?
Thank you.

I have never heard of adding names to car titles, this must be something that is only done in the States. Here in Ontario, you have another person listed as an occasional driver on your insurance policy only, in order to have the car driven by another person. I thought multi user discounts only applied to fleet insurance.

I know you mentioned 'discount', but how much more 'extra' premium do you have to pay?

For liability reasons, I would not want my name on the title of a car with my child. Think asset protection. Check with your lawyer before making the change.
