My wall remote comes off a 20 Amp GFCI outlet, and intermediates line voltage between the outlet and the receiver, which in turn is wired to the fan motor/lights. I'm certain that the wiring is correct. I initially noticed that the fan/ lights weren't working, so I tested the remote for input/output voltage. I get 120 vac in, but nothing out no matter what I press on the remote. The fan motor is below maximum amperage (0.6/1.0), and the three bulbs below maxuimum wattage (120/300), but the replacement remote acted the same way, ceasing to output voltage immediately after turning the switch to "on" and pressing one of the fan speed buttons. I assume that I've burned out the transformer in the wall remote both times, but I can't figure out why. I've wired the input/output voltage correctly, matched the amperage and wattage, and now have replaced the receiver, but have not installed a replacement remote, out of fear that this will happen again. All of the wiring is as specified in the instructions. Does anyone know the common causes of wall remote failure besides mis-wiring? Is this an indicator of a bad fan motor? Or is it perhaps the previous receiver? I read nothing in the manual about wiring these in series, but is this perhaps the cause? I am at a loss.
