Hello,

I had a Heating and Air Conditioning company come replace my furnace and A/C Unit in January. They told me that I needed to call and have them come out and prime the A/C Unit before I fired it up this summer. When I had someone out to do that, he advised me that the filter I had purchased from Home Depot was too thick for my ductwork and that I was limiting the airflow. I told him that recently something in the house had been aggravating my allergies, hence the thicker filter.

He suggested a UV Light would allow me to go back to a thinner filter to get more airflow and would rid the house of any allergens. I had one installed a few days later. When I walked into the house after installation, a chlorine smell hit me like a ton of bricks. I didn't think twice about it, figuring it was the UV Light doing it's job. My allergies have since cleared up, but the chlorine smell (like an indoor swimming pool) has not gone away. It has been nearly two weeks that the system has been in place. Is this something that will fade over time, or am I stuck with this?

Any help anyone could give on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The chlorine smell is not from the uv light... is it possible there is a small refrigerant leak from a/c you are smelling... no odor comes off uv light... been doing a/c work for 28 years never heard of it... check all your soider joints with liquid dish soap for bubbles which would be a leak
