Right now I'm 16 and my boyfriend is 14, but I'll be turning 17 in the next mouth and he'll be turning 15 in the next couple of mouths. I really don't plain on doing anything sexual with him, but I'm worried about being charged with something for being around him and dating him. Can I be charged with something?

It is 17 in Missouri for men and woman. This is from avert.org legal consent age chart.

There is nothing illeagal about dating a 14 year old if your 16 as long as there is no sex. But once you turn 17 and if you have sex with him then you could be charged with statutory rape. That's not saying you would be, his parents would have to press charges against you, and then you would have to be convicted of it. It's a long shot, but it has happened.

This has been covered MANY times here. There are no laws governing dating. It is not illegal to date someone greatly older or younger. The laws deal only with sexual activity. And it WOULD be illegal in most areas to have sex with a 14 or even 15 yr old.

That being said, I have to wonder what a 17 yr old girl sees in a 14 yr old boy. The two of you are at vastly different developmental points in your lives.
