Sports Jacket is required as dresscode in restaurants in Dominican Republic

What is Sports Jacket? Is it a blazer or any informal jacket? I also have an Italian leather jacket - can I wear that?

Yes, it is like a blazer or a coat to a suit-- only it does not come with the matching trousers. If the leather jacket is cut like a suit coat or blazer then likely it will pass but not if it's a completely different style.
