Maryland. My husband was in a collision on his 50cc scooter with a car. No one was hurt, but my husband was given 3 tickets by the police officer. Driving with suspended license. (He doesn't have an active license, he turned it in and has an id only card.) Driving with expired license. Driving off road while passing. (MVA online website instructed him to ride only on the side of the road, never directly on the road. The county police say the opposite.) My husband is instructed to attend a Drivers License Diversion Program AND restore his driving privileges by paying off fines.
If he attends the Program, he's wiping out the tickets, but he wonders if he should forego it and fight the fact that he got incorrect tickets.
What direction should he go? Attend the class and admit to guilt, or argue the tickets he believes are "illegal"?
