Description of painting surfaces; Living room ceiling 14" x 16" with a big flower's design in the middle and many rings approx. 4" all around; made of white plaster mud, and white sprayed texture mixed with paint between flower's leave on drywall, also few gold and silver flakes, been sprayed on each leave, was done approx 26 year ago. White plaster mud don't seem to have been mixed with paint, but whole ceiling give same white appearance. Where also few black dot, size of cooking salt to peas seed. On a painter advice, have sprayed - (white oil base, interior use, overhead stain sealer, named "Kilz" from Home Depot) - on black dot and all leave to hide flakes; white appearance is more glossy and shinny. Best way to paint this kind of ceiling on painter advice was spraying paint, will give same appearance. New paint; water bases: Latex, ceiling, trims baseboards color, snowfall white as pearl finish; walls color moccasin as eggshell finish, paint with a roller, after ceiling is done, as spraying paint. Is it the best or any others way to paint this ceiling? If spraying is the best way, which spray gun will you recommend; electric or air? Specify brand, model for latex, also all other painting materials. I got small air compressor - Campbell Hausfeld - CH for hobby spray gun. Rating: 4.5 SCFM at 40 PSI; 3.7 SCFM at 90 PSI; 1.3 Running HP; 125 PSI Max; 8 gal tank, with air gauge, air regulator. Used it only so far to blow air in tires, when bought new, didn't know much about compressor, mostly about tools required SCFM. Will it be better to borrow or rent a bigger one for now in order to get the right spray gun? Will probably later on, buy a bigger one, sell this one; but for now, trying to get this one useful. Already bought a CH air spray gun Model # DH5300; 4.3 SCFM and worry about info stated "CH Power Match system; air delivery 4.4 avg. SCFM at 40 SI"; "Air requirement 4.3 avg. SCFM at 40 PSI"; Air compressor "Air deliver" should be greater than air tools "Air requirement". Doesn't specify the number of SCFM as to be greater; is it enough? Options required needed; 1/4" air filter, 1/4" in line dryer (desiccant); air gauge and regulator to connect at or near spray gun. Is these last two options are really needed, as are included with my compressor as stated above? Is all these options above, require more SCFM from my compressor? If so, thinking; should I return CH Spray gun Model # DH5300 and buy instead CH Model # DH4200 as it required 2.0 SCFM; but has less options or adjustment knob? Would it be better? Instructions; stated about choice of spraying pattern to set up; warning - to follow thinning paint manufacturer instructions; to keep (very important) the spraying pattern at all times "Parallel to painting surface, in straight movement, not arc movement if so; result, too much paint at arc middle, not enough at both end. Also state; spraying pattern allowable of tilting up to 45 degree max.; contradicting their own instructions stated above. Will you agree about it; comments? Received info; All electric and air spray gun with a canister are good mostly for walls, about 45 degree max. tilting downward only as example for floors, decks, garages are not too bad: not good for ceiling; as paint go in air hose, motor, spray gun, messy ceiling; result, ruining motor, spray gun also your ceiling; and void warranty; as didn't follow instructions properly. Do you agreed about this last info.; add comments? Con't; rec info.; Need a paint tank with paint and air hoses to connect a spray gun as both model # stated above; in order to keep all times spraying pattern "Parallel" to painting surfaces. These paint tank size are 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 gallon for big job. Is there smaller tank of approx 2 quarts or litres and both hoses needed: (could buy separately as paint tank 2 1/2 gallon). Noticed some spray guns come with such tank size and hoses; but need approx. 6 SCFM; too much for my air compressor. Using a big or small paint tank; Is it required or need more SCFM from my air compressor?
