There is more to this you aren't telling us that he saw.

I don't get failure to yield tickets... do I. And when I do get a ticket... I at least know what it was I did. The cop has never refused to explain the violation in the 33 years I have been driving. So you should know what it was HE saw you do.
You are the one who never thought to ask what you actually did when you were cited. Thus how do YOU expect to fight it.
I've won most tickets I've fought. Keep that in mind before YOU start calling people names.

If you want to successfully fight a ticket... you have to know what HE claimed you did... in detail. Many times YOU did something you were not aware of doing. Its his word against yours... so without knowing what you are defending against... you really don't stand much of a chance... unless he forgets to show up in court.
He will have detailed notes of what he saw or at least thought he saw you do.
Traffic court is not like regualr court... here you are presumed guilty unless you can prove you are innocent. And being convincing is easier said than done. Sit in sometime before your date. Watch and listen. You will see what I am saying. You will see a lot of transparent and very bad liars trying to get out of their charges. And you know a Judge who does this day after day can see right through a story that's made up. Body language and how you speak will betray most people who aren't being 110% honest.

Was this a single stop, was it a four way stop,
Was there other on coming traffic.
You can not fight something if you don't know what they claim you did.
If you really don't know, go to the police department and get a copy of the officers official statement he made when he filed the ticket

Ok, you came to a stop and the car on your left proceeded across the intersection and you made a right turn without waiting for that car to cross the intersection.
If that's your story, pay the fine.
