I caught that last week so I'm already a fan. I also caught that his school vouchers plan was passed (http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2010/05/nj_senate_committee_approves_s_1.html) by the NJ Senate last week over the objections of the unions. This guy is a rising star.

So far he is walking the walk too. You can tell by the howls of protest by his foes.
Within weeks of his being sworn in there were people in the teacher's union praying for his death.

What public official doesn't have controversies ;especially one that makes waves ? Even wiki says he was a successful prosecutor.

Did 8 years of Bush make the government smaller or did spending get reduced? Of course not and it won't with this guy either.

Hello NK:

You're right, of course. These neolib Republicans only TALK about smaller government... But, when it comes to what you smoke, or who you screw, size doesn't matter. Pun intended.

Of course, the only REAL small government candidate out there is Rand Paul. He wants to end the drug war, the war in Iraq, and the war in Afghanistan. Me too.

You go, Rand Paul.

IN NJ case spending couldn't possibly get bigger or government larger .

I will note your prognostications and tag them for future reference.

Of course if Rand Paul wins it will be in no small part because of the Tea Party's support in the primaries against the Republican Party chosen candidate.

Who does Sarah Palin support ?

Yeah, the Republicans are devouring each other. You point out the problem Republicans have. They don't have a policy. Therefore, they pick the popular one of the day, and Rand Paul's is pretty popular. Being against stuff isn't policy.

PS>I didn't know Sarah Palin wanted to end the drug war. She's my girl, now. But, she doesn't really, does she?

Like I said on another posting ,if you narrow the issues enough you will be a party of one. I support most of the Tea Party causes ,but not all.

Palin was Governor of a state with a medical marijuana law. But she has made it clear that 1. she doesn't think pot should be legal 2. she doesn't think enforcing pot law should be a high priority of law enforcement .

Christie supports medical marijuana but realized the proposed law of NJ was a farce .So he opposed it .

For the Senate I could support Rand Paul because he would be one of a hundred Senators . As a potential Presidential candidate ,I couldn't because ,like his old man,he is head in the sand on foreign policy.

Back to Christie, he apparently wields the fastest veto pen in the country (http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2010/05/nj_gov_christie_vetoes_million.html).

It took about two minutes from the time Senate President Steve Sweeney certified the passage of the millionaires tax package for Gov. Chris Christie to veto the bills at his desk.

"While I have little doubt that the sponsors and supporters of this bill sincerely believe that the state can tax its way out of this financial crisis, I believe that this bill does nothing more than repeat the failed, irresponsible and unsustainable fiscal policies of the past," wrote Christie in his veto statement. "Now is not the time for more of the same. Ultimately, another tax increase will punish the state’s struggling small businesses and set our economy further back from recovery."

Christie pointed out that just last weekend, as 35,000 people gathered to shout down his proposals, he did more to boost the economy of Trenton than any of his predecessors. -- No one ventures into downtown Trenton on an average Saturday; doubtless local business owners were thrilled.
